The vulnerability is caused due to an error when attempting to change the byte order of values read from the header of an ELF file. This can be exploited to corrupt arbitrary memory by tricking a user into opening an ELF file having e.g. an overly large "e_phoff" header field. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.0. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Do not open untrusted ELF files.
