IMPACT:

SOFTWARE:
Ultimate PHP Board (UPB) 1.x

DESCRIPTION:
rgod has discovered some vulnerabilities in Ultimate PHP Board, which
can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting
and script insertion attacks.

1) Input passed to the "css" parameter in "send.php", "users.php",
"top.php" and "main.php", and the "title" parameter in "header.php"
isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can
be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's
browser session in context of an affected site.

2) Input passed to the "User-Agent" HTTP header in "index.php" and
"register.php" isn't properly sanitised before being logged. This can
be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will get
executed in an administrator's browser session in context of an
affected site when the malicious user data is viewed via the
"admin_iplog.php" script.

This is related to:
SA8858

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed on a fully patched UPB Gold
1.9.6 installation. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
