TITLE:

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:

VERIFY ADVISORY:

CRITICAL:
Not critical

IMPACT:
Security Bypass

WHERE:
Local system

SOFTWARE:
Spb Kiosk Engine 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/6699/

DESCRIPTION:
Seth Fogie has reported a weakness in Spb Kiosks Engine, which
potentially can be exploited by malicious, local users to bypass
certain security restrictions.

The weakness is caused due to the product not being able to prevent
users from using certain features in some programs to run other local
programs via a hyperlink. In addition, users may also execute external
programs via autorun when an external media like SD/CF card is
inserted. This bypasses the security feature of the product.

Successful exploitation requires that autorun is enabled or the user
is allowed to run an application that supports the execution of a
program via hyperlink.

The weakness has been reported in version 1.0.0.1. Other versions may
also be affected.

Note: It has also been reported that the product stores its passcode
in cleartext in the registry.

SOLUTION:
Disable autorun on the device and do not allow users to run programs
that can be used to execute other programs.
