TITLE:
Bits Video Script Arbitrary File Upload and Cross-Site Scripting
Vulnerabilities
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA38252
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/38252/
DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Bits Video Script, which
can be exploited by malicious users to compromise a vulnerable system
and by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
1) The vulnerability is caused due to the addvideo.php script
allowing the upload of files with arbitrary extensions to a folder
inside the webroot. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary PHP
code by uploading a PHP file.
2) Input passed to the "order" parameter in search.php is not
properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be
exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's
browser session in context of an affected site.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 2.04. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to the addvideo.php script (e.g. via .htaccess).
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
