DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in Samba, which can be exploited by
malicious users to bypass certain security restrictions.
The vulnerability is caused due Samba processes inheriting the
"CAP_DAC_OVERRIDE" capability flag, which can be exploited to e.g.
read and write to files without having the proper permissions.
The vulnerability is reported in versions 3.3.11, 3.4.6, and 3.5.0.
Prior versions are not affected.
Note: Successful exploitation requires that the system offers support
for capabilities and that Samba has been compiled with support for
libcap.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 3.3.12, 3.4.7, and 3.5.1 or apply patches.
