DESCRIPTION:
Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in InetServer, which can be
exploited by malicious users and malicious people to compromise a
vulnerable system.
1) A format string error when processing SMTP commands can be
exploited to corrupt memory via a specially crafted string sent to
the SMTP service.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows execution of
arbitrary code.
2) A format string error when processing POP3 commands can be
exploited to corrupt memory via a specially crafted string passed to
e.g. the RETR command.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows execution of
arbitrary code, but requires valid user credentials.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 3.2.3. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to trusted hosts only.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
